What Personal Data We Collect And Why We Collect It
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact Forms
When you fill out a contact form on gcseninja.co.uk we only collect the information you enter into the contact form. If the form asks for your name, email address, or any other personal information, then that information is sent to us via email. We only retain that information—including your email address—for as long as necessary to address your purpose in contacting us. Email addresses provided in contact forms are not ever used by us for any purpose other than to reply to you in regards to your reason for contacting us. We never sell information from contact forms to any third parties for any purpose.
Email Marketing
When you subscribe to GCSE Ninja email updates or newsletters, we collect your email address (and, if provided, your name) so that we can send you the content you requested, such as study tips, updates, and occasional related offers.
We use a third‑party email service provider, MailerLite, to manage our email subscriber list and to send emails. MailerLite processes your data on our behalf in order to deliver these emails and to provide anonymised statistics (for example, open and click rates). MailerLite’s privacy policy is available here: https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
We rely on your consent as the legal basis for processing your personal data for email marketing purposes. You give this consent when you actively subscribe via a sign‑up form (for example, by ticking a check box and/or clicking a confirmation link in a follow‑up email).
You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any email we send, or by contacting us using the details at the bottom of this page. If you unsubscribe, MailerLite will stop sending you emails, but we may retain minimal information (e.g. your email address and an unsubscribe flag) to ensure we respect your opt‑out.
Cookies
This website uses Google Analytics cookies (_ga) to help us analyse website traffic and ensure we provide the best user experience we can. The Google Analytics for Display Advertisers feature is active, which adds a DoubleClick cookie. This is intended to be used for remarketing purposes. Learn more about Google Analytics cookies here and see how you can opt-out of cookies here.
Embedded Content From Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
Like most websites, this website uses Google Analytics. For information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not share personal data.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
In line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on your consent (for example, for email marketing), you may withdraw that consent at any time.
Where We Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
